Get rid of Google Analytics referrer spam

Some spammers are trying to get real visitors via Analytics, by having bots visit millions of sites. This is a stupid way to try and get visitors as Analytics users are Webmasters, and Webmasters don’t like spam.

The following long and ugly url is an example of such a spam/scam url. These spammers are sending bots to crawl sites to spoof referrer link.

In Analytics click on Admin > filters and then add filter. Select “custom” filter.

Make sure you select “referral” in the filter field”, and in filter pattern type the full url of that spam url. Once you hit save it will go in the “Exclude” list.

Alternatively, you can use which does the same job automaticaly.
