Rumours took place last week that Microsoft was to but Mojang, the company responsible for the hugely popular community-based sandbox game Minecraft. This week, Microsoft confirmed they had bought the game for 2.5 billion dollars. Microsoft gets rights to the game and ownership of its Stockholm, Sweden-based development studio, Mojang. It doesn’t retain the company’s founders or Minecraft‘s infamously outspoken creator, Markus Persson, known as “Notch” to fans and minecrafters. Mojang makes a few other games such as Scrolls and Cobalt, but nothing anywhere near as significant as Minecraft. 10-year old Sabrina Lane was one against this huge change to Minecraft. She wrote a letter to Microsoft and Xbox lead Phil Spencer responded with “We’ll make Minecraft better” What do you think? Will Microsoft make Minecraft better or will this be the end of the game?
