Grooveshark

Pros:

  • Includes many live and obscure tracks that are not available anywhere else.
  • Flash based “anywhere” player.
  • Apps for iPhone and other platforms (jailbroken only though).
  • Available anywhere

Cons:

  • Many tracks are mislabeled. Track names are taken from user uploaded mp3 files.
  • Questionable legality. Source of files are user-uploaded. Grooveshark states it has deals in place with some of the labels.
  • Dodgy streaming – Tracks playing on GrooveShark drop regularly, whereas Spotify (on the same connection) never does.
  • The radio features of Spotify (Artist Radio or Genre / decade) are nowhere near as good as the likes of last.fm
    last.fm
